On Friday we will also be having another SHOP DAY where students can bring in unwanted toys to sell in our class shop, using our classroom money. This is a great way to share unwanted toys AND practise counting money and giving change!! Make sure to put price tags on your items and CHECK WITH MUM AND DAD first 😮

Our last week for the term – what a busy term it has been!

LEADING THE WAY, MASON!

Mason has been working so hard in his free time at school!  He has been researching interesting facts about our 7 Ancient Wonders of the World and has come up with some very unusual facts too!

Well done, Mason!  I am so impressed with your inquiring mind…..

Post a comment below to tell the class some of the things you have found out!  Now I’m watching to see what Flynn comes up with.  I know he was looking up some facts this afternoon too…way to go, Flynn and Mason!  😀

INTRODUCING LEE SCARECROW

What amazing students we have in Room 6! They heard about the Scarecrow Challenge and decided that together we could build a fantastic scarecrow – but we would ALL have to help and bring in things to put together to make him.
This is the result – Lee Scarecrow. He is good looking (in a scarecrowy way), tall and very hard-working! He is going to be so happy in the Kitchen Garden as he has his gloves on ready for action, and a packet of seeds in his pocket! Mr. Mcleod does need help, and this tall, strong denim-boy looks like the perfect helper!
Well done, everybody! All the things you each did, bringing in materials, helping to build him or stuff the body to give him his shape, only worked because you are all IMPORTANT PARTS OF A WHOLE! An excellent lesson in how much more we can do together!

P.S. I am so proud of your efforts, I’ve published him on the Community Blog too!

WORK FOR ROOM 6 – MONDAY 7 SEPTEMBER

GOOD MORNING EVERYBODY!

I’m sorry that I am unwell and can’t be with you this morning, but welcome to our lovely relief teacher. We hope you have a really good day with our class today.
The outline for today is:
9.00 to 10.15
Fitness
Writing – follow up to story Felix and Alexander.  (Students to discuss to generate ideas following narrative framework, plan and begin a draft of their story in draft writing books.) Students write a story about BEING LOST.

10.15   Library with Ms. Westlake

Recess

11.25  L.O.T.E. with Ibu Janice

12.10 Maths:   Mental Maths Week 28 – do Mon, Tues and Wed.  Mark together and discuss.

Students complete their SPELLING CONTRACT.  Fast finishers to compile a list of famous structures (using inquiry activities already completed…) in Inquiry Books and then after teacher has checked for spelling etc. to use the website to CREATE A WORDSLEUTH.  These can be photocopied for class to complete.  Make sure you put your name on it 🙂

lunch

1.50    NEWS – students have missed news for a while so choose how you wish them to share their news

Afternoon session:  (Either a FRUIT ‘N VEG activity – as this is the start of Healthy Eating Week…. and discuss and encourage physical activity)  or

ART ACTIVITY:  Students have started drawing their Monster House as a draft (response to Felix and Alexander).  These are on little table near teacher’s desk.  When they have enough detail they can draw in pencil the house on clean A3 paper.   Please DON’T let students colour these in.

They need to go over the pencil lines fairly darkly.  Then have students paint a light watercolour wash over the entire page (paints on ledge behind my chair) and leave to dry.  We will continue tomorrow with the process.

Any fast finishers during the day can go on computers to do Mathletics.

Hope everybody has a productive and enjoyable day.  See you all tomorrow.
