THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA

This week we will be reading and writing about the fairytale story: “The Princess and the Pea“.  We will be writing a newspaper article based on this fairytale. Remember that all newspaper articles are written as exciting recounts.

They must have:

  • An eyecatching headline…. (eg. Sleepless Night for Princess)

  • Write it as a news report, using Who? When? Where? What? and try to make it as interesting as you can.

  • Remember to use a special beginning sentence to “hook” your reader and make them want to read on…

  • It can be quite sensational and dramatic.

  • Include at least one quote from one of the people in the story.   (eg. The Princess said, “I just couldn’t sleep a wink last night!”)

  • It must be set out in long skinny paragraphs just as it would be in a newspaper.

Have fun with this piece of writing, everybody.  You will work with a partner to get ideas and do some planning, then it’s everybody on their own!  Mrs Veary

ROOM 6 NEWS PODCAST 1

Each week we will be creating a news podcast from Room 6.  Sasha and Tara will be the anchor newspeople and they will help two other people each week to create the news stories, record them and make the podcast.  See Sasha and Tara to put your names down and they will select two people each week.

Here is your first podcast – great job, people!

My Bedroom Descriptions

You can all be very proud of yourselves – some great writing last week.  I’d like to publish your descriptions using VoiceThreads, which means I will need a photo from you of your bedroom (or picture you have scanned) and you can then read your description out while we record it to match your photo.  Bring it to school on your USB or e-mail it to me by going to the e-mail link on the right-hand sidebar of this blog.
