LISTEN TO TWO EXCELLENT EXPOSITIONS!

A number of years ago, two students (Catie and Ben S.) published their expositions.  They were writing about “PLASTIC BAGS SHOULD BE BANNED!” and wrote very convincing arguments for banning plastic bags. (This was when you could still use all plastic bags in shops.) Listen to what they had to say and you will notice:

  • INTRODUCTION – gives their point of view (agree or disagree)
  • REASON 1 and example or explanation
  • REASON 2 and example or explanation
  • REASON 3 and example or explanation
  • CONCLUSION – tries to convince you about their point of view again to sum up their ideas.

Now it’s your turn to write very convincingly about why “Lollies Should be Banned!”

Expositions or Persuasive Arguments

We’ve talked about them. We’ve done one orally (ballet). Last week we brainstormed reasons for “Lollies Should be Banned!’ and now this week we will be writing those reasons as an exposition or persuasive argument.  You used your planner and today you will be writing it in your draft writing books.  Here are some video clips going over the criteria for an exposition and some examples to give you a better idea of what we are aiming for.
