AUSTRALIAN ANIMALS – BIG QUESTION

What types of characteristics/adaptations have Australian animals developed to survive in their natural environment?

This is our BIG QUESTION which we will be researching over the next week.  The blue words are our INQUIRY KEYS and the green words are our topic words.  The red words are our question words.

Today you will be using an ACTION PLANNER to organise HOW YOU WILL DO YOUR FINDING OUT and to give different team members specific JOBS.

FINDING OUT – your will write the facts you find out on your X-CHART using dot points.  Remember to say what your SOURCES are.

BIG QUESTION RESEARCH

These are some places you can visit to do your FINDING OUT for your BIG QUESTION.

1.  ABC – OUR ANIMALS  This has lots of good information on Australian Animals which is quite easy to read. You will have to look through the videos to find one suitable about your animal. You can also search ABC Education for “feathers, fur and fins” for more animals.

2.  KIDSCYBER – ANIMALS  Look for your animal in the list.  It also has a good explanation of what ADAPTATION means for animal life.

3.  WILD KIDS – ANIMALS from Australian Museum (some good pictures here) and the main site where you choose your category of animal AUSTRALIAN MUSEUM – ANIMALS

6. ANIMAL e-books -We have two sets and you can find them in our share drive.  Go to: 2022 student folders/AAA-e-books on Australian animals. Then copy the folder you want to use and paste it into your own folder to read!

WRITING – information report DESCRIPTION of PARROTFISH

In WRITING today, you are going to practise writing skills needed for your information report in your Big Question.  Today you will be collecting information and writing ONLY THE DESCRIPTION OF PARROTFISH.  Remember, you will need to write good sentences telling the writer what parrot fish look like.  You will need to mention:
