This website (Burra Gathering) will be very useful when you do your Looking into Space booklet and you need to read about Aboriginal people navigating using the stars. On that site you will also be able to see the Aboriginal seasons for those of you doing the Inquiry Card which asks you to research Aboriginal seasons. Enjoy your finding out this week, everybody! 🙂 Mrs Veary
Aboriginal people have been observing the sky for many thousands of years. Some Aboriginal people still use the stars as a guide for hunting and food gathering. They have worked out how to read the skies and stars to tell the weather, what food will be available and to navigate. In Burra Gathering, you wll find Wala Wala using the stars to go home. Click on ‘Dry Season’. Then complete the chart – “Told us – Made us Wonder”.

Hi Mitchell –
It is a good site. Isn’t it amazing that thousands of years ago, Aboriginal people were navigating using the same stars we see today?

Hi again-
Yeah! It’s a bit weird that they navigate with the same stars that we see today! Come to think of it, it would actually be quite fun to be an Aboriginal.
