GEOMETRY GAMES

Here are some games which will help you to learn the names of the different 3D objects.  Try to work out how many faces and edges and vertices (corners) too.

3D OBJECT SONG  – this is a song which tells you about 3D shapes

SOLID OBJECT FACTORY – learn the names of 3D objects in this game

NAME THE 3D OBJECT – a fun game guessing from the faces each shape has

Then stick your names onto your 3D objects on your sheet and use texta to colour in the base of each shape (Pyramids) and the side which gives it its name (Prisms).  Then hand it in. 😎

OUR INQUIRY INTO THE PAST

As part of our Signicant Structures – Local and Global Inquiry, Room 6 students were hard at work plotting new structures and features on their maps of the school.

They have done a fabulous job creating questions for their Wonderings Wall, asking the questions that we will need to answer as we find out all about the history of our school buildings.

Congratulations to each and every one of you for your ‘higher order thinking’ this week and for thinking about your learning.  The BIG QUESTION we ended up deciding on is:

What CHANGES have happened to SIGNIFICANT LOCAL STRUCTURES – past, present and future?

Now we need to start the “Finding Out” part of our petite inquiry into our school buildings!  😎

BOYS WIN THE DEBATE!

As an introduction to learning to write a persuasive argument (Exposition), students were fired up defending their point of view orally as to whether:

All Boys Should Learn to do Ballet!

Surprisingly 🙂 it became two teams made up of girls (YES!) and boys (NO!) and you will really enjoy listening to their animated and engaging arguments.

Go Girls – YES! All Boys Should Learn to do Ballet!

Go Boys – NO! Every Boy Should Learn Ballet
